Echo the Story, by Sparkhouse
Sunday's during Worship Service - September through May

“From creation to the formation of the church, students enter into each Biblical story imaginatively making observations, drawing, writing, and participating in group dialogue. Echo the Story 12 is a 12-session overview of the Bible for youth. The complete Echo the Story experience helps participants discover meaning and identity in the biblical narrative using a DVD, participant Sketch Journal, and detailed Leader Guide.”

<![CDATA[Summer Camp at Pilgrim Point]]>Fri, 19 Sep 2014 14:23:41 GMThttp://unitedchurchmapleton.org/youth-group-blog/summer-camp-at-pilgrim-point
We had five youth attend Pilgrim Point Summer Camp in Alexandria, MN from July 27 – August 1. They were Carter B., Jayden M., Konnor M., Nick S., and Cody W. Jeff and I attended as adult volunteers during the second half of the week. Many thanks to Dick D. who drove our youth up to Alexandria on Sunday, July 27! I took some fun pictures of our time together and hope you enjoy them!

Our high school youth had the opportunity to put their faith in action and help build a house for Habitat for Humanity in Alexandria, and everyone had the chance to take part in a high ropes challenge course. A high point of the week was the “Spirit Dash” on Thursday afternoon, where groups of youth went from station to station to complete challenges like carrying buckets of water on their heads three-legged-relay style, or styling each other into characters using shaving cream. There was also plenty of time dedicated to faith formation, Christian education, worship, and enjoying Lake Ida.

I know that Jeff and I had a great time, and I think our youth did, too. I hope that there will be many more years to come of youth camping together at The United Church!

<![CDATA[Palm Sunday Brunch]]>Fri, 18 Apr 2014 17:06:47 GMThttp://unitedchurchmapleton.org/youth-group-blog/palm-sunday-brunchOur annual Palm Sunday Brunch was a great success! We had about 50 people enjoy brunch together in the Fellowship Hall and we raised about $370 for our United Church Youth Camping Scholarship Fund - almost enough money to pay for 2 youth to attend camp at Pilgrim Point this summer in Alexandria, MN! Many, many thanks to all who prepared and served our meal, to all who came and donated to support our youth, and to all of the youth who helped with setup and cleaning up!
